As a regional commercial centre Kilrush has a full range of services for both residents and visitors. The town has well established branches of the two main Irish banks, AIB and Bank of Ireland, both of which have ATM machines. For credit union members, there is also an ATM at Kilrush Credit Union, situated on the town’s main square. The Chamber of Commerce is proud of the extent and diversity of its membership and these businesses offer a full range of services and products to customers and clients.
Kilrush Public Library, at O’Gorman Street, is also an important local asset, offering not just the traditional books but DVDs as well as online access on a series of computer terminals. For religious services, the town’s St Senan’s R.C. Church is located at Toler Street. Contact the parish office or see the local parish newsletter for details of services. (www.kilrushparish.com) Mass and other services can also be accessed at the other parish churches in West Clare. Church of Ireland and Methodist services are available in Kilkee.
Adult education services are available in at the Adult Learning Centre, Cooraclare Road through the County Clare VEC Adult Education Service (www.westclarevtos.ie/about/index.php). Children’s education is catered for at the town’s two primary schools, St Senan’s and Gaelscoil Uí Choimín, and, at secondary level, in Kilrush Community School.
An array of sports facilities are available locally, ranging from the 18-hole golf course to GAA pitches, soccer and rugby grounds, a running track and yachting at Kilrush Marina. Handball, squash and racketball are available at Kilrush Handball Club, O’Gorman Street.
