Announcement - WIORA 2005 “West Coast Championships” Annual Regatta at Kilrush, 13th-16th July, 2005.
The Western Yacht Club (WYC), Kilrush is proud to welcome back the coveted West of Ireland Offshore Racing Association (WIORA) for their WIORA 2005 “West Coast Championships” Annual Regatta in Kilrush, raced over 4 days on the Shannon Estuary, from Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th July, 2005.
As before, in 2002, the WYC will host WIORA where yachts and competitors from near and far will join in the racing and festivities to make it another memorable event. We hope to have for the first time this year, some of our fellow sailors from the south coast competing in Classes 1, 2, 3, Sigma, Beneteau, X-Yacht Cups, and J24 using IRC and Echo Handicap Systems. Introducing for the first time a White sails class this we are hoping will introduce some family or short handed boats into racing. Free berthage for all competing yachts during WIORA 2005.
We would like to thank our main sponsors Kilrush Marina, Kilrush Credit Union and Dubarry of Ireland for their excellent support.
It promises to be a superb event on the racecourse with windward leewards, triangles, local and offshore racing. Onshore there will be evening frolics, grub and a full programme of entertainment available in the marquee.
We have incorporated feeder races from Kinsale (the week following Sovereigns Cup) in association with SCORA, also races from Galway, and Fenit to actively entice crews to the event. Please see dates at www.wiora.org and www.westernyachtclub.com
